Iva Nancy Vunikura

Iva Nancy Vunikura, from Vione, Gau, Lomaiviti, has a deep passion for the ocean and its preservation. Having sailed the world for the last 9 years, Iva is today the most sailed woman on a traditional vaka, having joined the Uto Ni Yalo
in 2011 for the Te Mana O Te O voyage and moving onto work for the Okeanos Foundation, where she has helped to train vaka crews in Vanuatu, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Palau, Yap and FSM.
Her last stint on Yap was special as the people of Yap still practice traditional voyaging and celestial navigation. Since returning to Fiji, Iva is a vital member of i Volasiga Vou, the Fijian drua (canoe) Iva is also an avid rugby player and has represented Fiji in 15s and 7s.
